ALROSA says to auction unique diamond collection on Wednesday
MOSCOW, Nov 28 (PRIME) – More than 130 participants have registered for Russian uncut diamond giant ALROSA’s closed auction for a unique collection of polished diamonds the Dynasty to be held on Wednesday, the company said on Tuesday.
“The auction will be held on ALROSA’s online trading platform. Polished diamonds are put up for auction individually. There will be a one-step bidding – the highest bid wins. The names of the participants are not disclosed. The starting prices will be announced to the registered participants,” the company said.
ALROSA has held a roadshow for potential clients for three months, and demonstrated the diamonds in Hong Kong, the Israeli city of Ramat Gan and New York. Previously, ALROSA CEO Sergei Ivanov said that the company estimates the cost of the collection at no less than U.S. $10 million.
The collection consists of five polished diamonds that were created from one 179-carat diamond the Romanovs, which was produced in 2015. The other diamonds are named after the people who played an important role in the Russian jewelry business – the Sheremetyevs, the Orlovs, the Vorontsovs, the Yusupovs.
